How the Test Works
The RapidChek® technology couples a sensitive immune-detection strip for Salmonella Group B serovars with the SELECT™ Salmonella enrichment media for fast and accurate results within 32 – 44 hours for poultry house environmental samples. The method uses a novel application of bacteriophages in the media to act as selective agents, enhancing both specifi city and sensitivity of the overall method. The immune-detection strip employs proprietary anti-Salmonella B serogroup antibodies. The immunodetection strip is added directly into the provided tube with the secondary enrichment sample. Within 10 minutes results are read. One line indicates a negative result and two lines indicate a presumptive positive result. The test kits are stored at room temperature.
Applications
RapidChek® SELECT™ Salmonella Group B method is designed to detect Group B Salmonella species in poultry house environmental samples. The test kit permits the presumptive detection and identifi cation of the target serogroup in 32 – 44 hours. The test can be used in conjuction with the RapidChek® SELECT™ Salmonella species test and/or Salmonella Enteritidis test method or as a standalone method for serogrouping results.
Confirmation
Presumptive positive results must be confi rmed by a cultural reference method (USDA MLG, FDA BAM or ISO). At least two different types of selective agars should be plated for best results. RapidChek® SELECT™ Salmonella secondary media samples used in the test procedure can be used for confirmation.
